Embroidery

  • Definition: Embroidery is sewing a design directly onto the fabric with thread, creating a textured, raised effect.
  • Best For: Simple designs, up to 3 colors. Items that can be embroidered include hats, coats, blankets and uniforms that need a professional look and durability.
  • Difference: It’s super durable and looks classy, but it’s usually more expensive and less flexible in design compared to the other methods.

Screen Print Transfers

  • Definition: Screen print transfers are designs printed onto special paper by pushing ink through a screen. These designs can then be transferred to fabric using heat and pressure. The very same ink is used in traditional screen printing.
  • Best For: Designs with clean lines, up to 5 colors. Making lots of shirts with the same design, especially if it’s simple (like a logo). Best on cotton items.
  • Difference: It’s great for bulk orders and bright colors but can be tricky for very detailed designs. Metallic and Neon inks available but colors are limited.

DTF Transfers (Direct to Film Transfers)

  • Definition: DTF transfers are designs printed onto a special film that can be heat pressed onto fabric.
  • Best For: Detailed designs with unlimited color selection, including gradients and fine details. Works well on different types of fabric, including stretchy materials.
  • Difference: It allows for more detail and color variety than embroidery and screen print transfers, but may not last as long.

HTV (Heat Transfer Vinyl)

  • Definition: HTV is a type of vinyl material that has a heat-activated adhesive on one side. To use it, you cut the design out of the vinyl, remove the excess, and then apply heat (with a heat press or iron) to adhere it onto fabric.
  • Best For: One-color designs and simple shapes like silhouettes. Also best for adding names and numbers to sports jerseys.
  • Difference: Quickest turnaround than any of the other methods. However, various colors and complex designs are not possible

UV Decals

  • Definition: UV decals are printed using ultraviolet (UV) ink that cures (hardens) when exposed to UV light. This process makes the decals durable and resistant to fading. The printed design is usually coated with a protective layer to enhance its longevity.
  • Best For: Permanent decals to customize smooth, hard items such as mugs, clipboards, laptops, plastic goods, etc.  Great for vibrant, detailed designs that require rich colors and sharp details.
  • Difference: Can be used indoor, outdoor but it is not easily removable once placed. Not dishwasher safe.

Graphic Design

  • Definition: Graphic design is the art of creating visual content to communicate messages. Designers use images, text, colors, and layouts to convey ideas, tell stories, or sell products.
  • Best For: Logo design, company branding, visual identity, small business marketing.
  • Difference: We can print posters, banners, business cards, rack cards and postcards with the graphic designs we create.
